The Battle system Empty The Battle system

Post by Tidus Wed Mar 11, 2009 9:26 am

This was the First RPG that Square used a different battle system in. How many people enjoyed the new style, only controlling on character and having their Gambits work the others for them. How many of you suffered with not getting your Gambit set ups right? and how long did you take mastering the gambit system or did it just Click with you?

Discuss the unique battle style and weather or not you would like to see it in FFXIII or weather you would like it to resort to the old battle style.

I didn't enjoy it -__- it was like the worst battle style I've ever played, it really sucked for me, I liked the ATB system it was the best and I prefer it to be that way D=

The Battle system Empty Re: The Battle system

This was my first FF game so at the time I didn't really understand it or anything. I grew used to the battle system pretty quickly and when I went back to the older games I started to doubt it but in the end yeah, I liked the battle system. =)

Well I haven't played the game much but I think it wasn't as bad as many people think. I found it more modern than the old systems and well, probably it brought new people to FF. It was a bit hard to use tho ... but I think with time I would have mastered it.

I've probably found it more enjoyable then most people. It was a completely new break, a fresh one, from the old style battking systems, which often infuriated me. This one had more excitement to it, and escaping from monsters wasn't always that easy, which made things more realistic.

well, i found it difficult to use at the start of the game, when you are only just earning enough Gil to keep you weapos and armour up-to-date, but as i got further and further into the game i found it easier as i bought my spellcaster a Sage's Ring (Half MP cost and absorb holy) and also bought all of the Elemental weakness Gambits (Foe: (element) -Weak) so my spellcaster became a whole load more effective and fights became a whole load easier.

alright to be honest the battle system sucked majorly, the no random encounters was horrific -__-. And another thing, the free roam, was a bad idea..on a plus side it made me try harder and that was a good thing. The system was 6/10 in my book, so that means i didnt like it, n
or did i hate it..Very Happy:D

"alright to be honest the battle system sucked majorly, the no random encounters was horrific ."

Why did it? What's more horrific, getting hounded by constant unwanted random battles or being able to explore your surroundings, and dodging enemies when you don't want to see them?
