Minecraft

Post by Mari Bryn on Fri Aug 19, 2011 1:17 am

I think several of us play this amazing game, we can discuss stuff here.

Thought A.)Atnem, on your mushroom farm have you considered putting the seed mushrooms on a block attached to a piston (sticky piston?) so before you flood the room you can activate the pistons and that way you wouldn't have to reseed. IDK if it would work but could be worth a shot.

Thought B.) Why does the cake have cherries or strawberries on top? Where do they come from?

Thought C.) I have no more thoughts today.

A) I'm fairly certain that wouldn't work. The shrooms would detach when it moved. Neat idea, though. I may test it out sometime to be sure, though.

B) Good question. There's nothing like that in the recipe.

C) I built a cactus farm. Now I can't think of anything to build, again. I guess I'll come up with something eventually.

D) I downloaded a minimap mod, and it would work, but I don't have enough CPU to run it and Minecraft at the same time. QQ

Build something that defies gravity, and make it impressive. Oh make a plumbob over your castle out of cacti blocks, but make sure you rest it on a base of glass or the cacti will fall.

Has any thought of the idea of making a multi-player server for the site?

I don't think any of us have a good enough system to run a server, it would be interesting but I sure as shootin couldn't do it.

If I could, I would have my own server. But I don't have a system to host it on. Super sad.

I've been wanting to build a giant tree fort. I think I'll do that. I've got enough bonemeal to make the trees grow instantly, so that won't be an issue.

Just be careful you don't suffocate yourself, stupidest way I've died three times in a row.

Also, wood burns but stone doesn't correct? I have a very intriguing idea for a build.

It does burn. I don't think it burns as well as it used to, though. So I wouldn't expect it all to burn away.

I'm gonna wait for the next patch to build anything big. I think we might have to load a new map.

I'm going to wait too but I had a great idea for a giant floating circular fortress, I could use sand but I thought that perhaps burning the wool would be more satisfying.

So I haven't been able to update yet, is it awesome? Did they end up resetting the server? What new projectabilities does this open up?

Re: Minecraft

It's pretty neat. Animals are persistent now, so you can build a farm (getting them into it is another story).
The server is reset, and might be again, cuz the Snowy biome is being fixed.
It's been super laggy, so I haven't been able to do a whole lot. And I think there was a bug in the server's map generation, so he reset it again, and I lost everything I'd done anyway.
Ravines are cool. Mines are neat, but I haven't really found any. Endermen are scary until you have a decent weapon.
The hunger system is neat. If you're full, you regenerate health. If you're starving, you lose it (down to 5 hearts). And most food stacks now. I keep forgetting to bring it, though.
Experience points are in the game, but have no function yet.
I think that's about it.

Sounds like a bunch of fun, I still haven't been able to update with the internet at my sisters house, but I can't wait to start a farm.

They're pushing out lots of updates in the next couple of months to prepare for the release in November. The game is kind of unstable sometimes. 1.9 lags too much for me to even play. Still lots of cool new stuff coming.

Alright so, minecraft is pretty stable now and I have the net to run it but I've been playing the tekkit version, have you checked that out? You can build machines, and awesome armor that uses electrical energy instead of like armor life to work. You can literally jump off a mountain and not die. Also there's a forestry version where you can do beekeeping and such and it's just cool and such.
